DRESSED Documentary (soundtrack by Sink to See) Sneak Peek at Soho House

Onerock Moving Pictures screened an intimate sneak peek of their documentary DRESSED to New York’s tastemakers and press at Soho House members’ club and hotel in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District on September 10th.
DRESSED is a heartfelt documentary that takes a look at Laotian-American fashion designer, Nary Manivong, who defies the odds of a broken childhood and homelessness to follow his dream of showing his collection at New York’s Fashion Week and launching his brand.
The film also features a cast of top fashion experts: Fern Mallis, Senior Vice President of IMG Fashion; Ohio designer Nanette Lepore; Mickey Boardman of Paper Magazine; Author Mary Gehlhar “Fashion Designer’s Survival Guide”; Simon Collins, Dean of Fashion for Parsons, The New School for Design;
Industry Consultant George Furlan; Simon Doonan, Creative Director of Barneys New York, author of four books and columnist for The New York Observer; Stylist Robert Verdi; President of The Fashion Group International, Margaret Hayes; and fashion writer Lynn Yaeger.
Following the 15 minute sneak peek (which had a killer soundtrack, btw), Director David Swajeski, Executive Producer Maryanne Grisz, Nary Manivong, and a few of the cast members, gathered for a Q&A.
The decorous Mr. Manivong, who had his New York Fashion Week runway show earlier that evening, was all smiles and definitely ready to relax for the rest of Fashion Week. Mr. Manivong appeared grounded and was completely receptive to audience inquiries.
I spoke with Ms. Grisz about the moving documentary. I wondered how the direction of the film from the onset moved throughout the year of filming. “We always saw the central story/theme being about the strength of the human spirit. Working with Nary was very inspiring as he just kept moving forward in pursuit of his dream in spite of the tremendous odds against him.”
I believe the essence of Mr. Manivong spoke beautifully within DRESSED to produce an absolutely inspiring documentary. I can’t wait to see the full-length feature.

2012 EP Reviewed by Orange Karma Records / CredibleMusicReviews.com

Release Date: October 27, 2009
Album: 2012 EP
By: Jonathan Borozzi
Review: Sink To See’s new six song EP is a refreshing display of progression from the L.A. based So. Cal rock outfit. A longtime MTV synchronization favorite, Sink To See’s ”2012″ offers more of the atmopsheric rock sound the band is now known for. Every Little Thing is a great example of the band’s signature sound that should appease existing fans who may have took to the band on songs like Shine On and Speakers. A music video was released for the EP’s title song 2012, which is another characteristic song with a heavy bass line that explodes into a barage of guitar and melodic vocals. Check out Hangman with a different, almost southern rock influence and the acoustic inspired Death Of A Love. Overall, “2012″ is the latest success among a stream of other accomplishments by the still fully independent Sink To See. Check the band out on MySpace, where you can stream the EP or pick up a copy for yourself on iTunes.

Campus Circle’s David Tobin Interviews Sink to See about 2012
•October 28, 2009 • Leave a CommentIt’s the simplicity in music that makes it the most effective. When you’re dealing with rock, it needs to be raw and unfiltered. It needs to have some passion and a hook. When you start to add more to the equation, it strays away from its roots and no longer can be classified as just rock and roll.
Sink to See has done this once again. Their first album had the makings of something special, but it wasn’t until their latest, 2012, that the band came together to bring something solid to the music world.
Dony West, lead guitarist, had similar feelings about the new release: “We grew in the process of this record. 2012 is about the end of the world, and we took home that feeling and put it into music. This album is more introspective. We thought about the lyrics a lot more.”
The new songs offer insight to daily life and mimic the band’s own will to get through to the masses on their own terms. Focusing on their online presence and ways to actually interact with their fans is a big part of what has garnered the growing buzz around this act.
Bassist Shawn Bathe put the online campaign into focus: “You reach listeners on a first person basis now, that’s very valuable. We exist virtually 24/7 when, in actuality, we are only interacting ‘live’ a small portion of time.”
West adds, “Online presence is the face of your band these days, you don’t have to tour Russia to reach your fans.”
Not only is this band using the Internet in more ways than conventionally thought, they are also being heard in commercials for Nissan and TV shows on networks like Bravo.

Hey S2S Fans!
Today we are proud to announce the release of ‘2012′, our sophmore EP which will soon be available for download on iTunes in the next few days. The new collection is a solid mixture of heavy hitting rock songs and heartfelt ballads, the result of some quality time in the studio this past Spring and we are looking forward to playing them for you live (see our MySpace page for upcoming dates). Our biggest challenge this time around was figuring out what material wouldn’t fit on the album. Hopefully, by our follow up we will be singing about our drug rehab and guitar shaped pools, and how to pull our Rolls Royces out of them.
Starting Tuesday, October 27, 2009, Sink to See fans can check out the band’s MySpace page to listen to the entire 2012 EP, including new songs like ‘Death of a Love’ and ‘Every Little Thing’. While you’re at it, check out our two brand new music videos from the album for the songs ‘Hangman’ (directed by our very own, Dony West) and the title track ‘2012′ both shot in our very own backyard of Los Angeles.
Keep an eye out for our interview and album review in the upcoming Campus Circle Magazine! To order a copy of the album, shoot us an email at sinktosee@yahoo.com and we will follow up with you directly. The CD release party for ‘2012′ is currently being scheduled for the first half of December, more details to follow.
See our MySpace page for tour schedule.
Rock!
Jason, Dony, Shawn & Josh
All the tracks from the New EP will be available on Rhapsody and Itunes within a few days.
